This museum contains the most
comprehensive collection of historical and artistic documents, accounts and miscellanea
spanning six centuries relating to the Swiss
patriot William Tell. Bürglen, the
turreted, picturesque village of Tell`s birthplace, is very old. A gift
deed from the
German king, Ludwig,
confirms that by the year 857, Bürglen already stood under the patronage
of the Fraumünster monastery of Zurich. Bürglen has always been regarded as William
Tell`s birthplace.
